5 Tips For Traveling and Working Remotely On the Emerald Coast

5 tips for traveling and working remotely on the Emerald Coast

When it comes to visiting the Emerald Coast many people wish they could pack their bags at a moment’s notice and head to the beach, but in the past, most people weren’t able to do so because of their job. Now that it’s 2022, remote work has made it possible to travel and work at the same time, so today we want to share our top tips on how to make the most out of your visit to the Florida Panhandle while also keeping up with a busy work schedule.

Make sure your job continues to be a top priority

When visiting the Emerald Coast, we know how easy you can get wrapped up in those long walks on the beach, or shopping away at places like Silver Sands Outlets or the Destin commons, but when working remotely you want to make sure that your job continues to be a top priority. The easiest way to do this is to make a list of the things you want to do while traveling and set aside time each day, outside of your work hours.

Follow a routine

When working remotely, the most important tip we can give you whether you are traveling here on the Emerald Coast, or at home is to follow a routine. When you keep a routine, it is easier to attack your task list and not be overwhelmed if the day gets ahead of you. Keeping a routine helps you get the job done no matter where you are working from. Don’t forget to schedule some screen-time breaks by checking out the view on the balcony or taking a short walk on the beach. 15-minute breaks throughout your day help you stay focused and motivated.

Adjust for time differences

Don’t forget to adjust for time differences when working remotely. With the Emerald Coast being not too far from Atlanta and Tallahassee a lot of people assume that Destin, Miramar Beach, and Panama City are all on Eastern time when in fact we are on central time. The easiest way to adjust for these time differences is to have a world clock app on your phone or computer that has each of the time zones for the area that you are working in, so you know when to schedule meetings and meet deadlines.

Find a good place to work from

The beauty of working on the Emerald Coast is that the world is your oyster. You can work in an amazing beachfront condo on the Gulf of Mexico, work out of a business center on one of our many resorts, find a co-working space, or even our coffee shops are great places to be when working remotely. It all depends on what your needs are, and what will help you get the job done.

Make sure you pack the proper work essentials

The one thing that can put a snag in your trip is missing the right work essentials. The best thing to do before working remotely on the Emerald Coast is to make a list of the tools you need to get the job done. Whether that be an extra monitor, a USB microphone, soundproof headphones, or some essentials as simple as pen and paper. Making a list will let you know the things you already have, and let you plan for those upcoming expenses

As you can see there are a lot of pros to working on the Emerald Coast, you can experience what it’s like to live at the beach, even if for just a short period of time, the amazing restaurants, fun water activities, not to mention the live music and just the overall atmosphere makes it one of the best places to be.
