If you’re like most who visit, you probably chose Destin as your vacation spot so you could relax and enjoy the beautiful beaches with warm sunshine. While that is the majority of our weather on the coast, occasionally we do have a rainy day that will take you off the beach and make you wonder how to spend your day. Look no further – we’ve compiled 7 things to do in Destin Florida when it rains.

See Live Alligators
Take the family out on an adventurous (and educational!) excursion that involves live alligators. Fudpuckers in Destin offers a unique experience where guests can feed live alligators from a fishing pole above the pond, hold a baby alligator for a photo, and walk through their entire exhibit to learn more. They currently house Pearl, a rare albino alligator that is one of only 50 known alive in the world – a must see while in town. With an extensive bar, a large dining area, and a variety of things to do with kids (Fudnominals, anyone?) this is fun for the whole family.

Play Arcade Games
While at Fudpuckers, stop next door and hit Fat Daddy’s Arcade. Packed full of virtual rides and video games, it’s easy to spend an entire afternoon here. Collect your tickets and check out a variety of prizes available; everyone is sure to find something they’d like to take home as a souvenir. With a variety of things to do in Destin, the fun never stops.

Shopping
With two huge shopping areas in our small vacation city, you will have no trouble spending your days browsing. Located on the edge of the city between Destin and Miramar Beach, the Destin Commons provides an outdoor shopping experience with everything from Victoria Secret, to Belk, to the Harley Davidson store. If you don’t find something there to do, check out the Silver Sands Outlet Mall in Miramar Beach. Just a short drive, there are a variety of shops with outlet pricing. A covered walkway makes the perfect stop for a rainy day!

Go To The Movies
Who doesn’t love a good movie? Look up show times at our two convenient theatre locations – the AMC Theatre inside the Destin Commons and the Carmike Theatre in Grand Boulevard. With show times all day long, it’s a great way to sneak away for a few hours to let the rain pass. Bonus: The AMC Theatre is now serving alcohol and the Carmike Theatre has the Ovation Room, where you can dine and drink while watching.

Bowling
Located inside the Destin Commons, Uncle Bucks offers an updated bowling experience. Also a complete bar and restaurant, bring the kids and let the fun take you through the afternoon. The huge projection screens above the lanes will ensure you can watch your favorite sporting event as well. The perfect alternative for when it rains in Destin!

Trampoline Park

Looking for something fun to do that will let the kids run wild while you relax? Check out the Urban Air Adventure trampoline park located right in the heart of Destin. Everyone will have fun jumping on the trampolines, playing dodgeball, trying to make it through the American Ninja Warrior course, and even play a little laser tag. This makes it one of the most fun activities in Destin whether rain or shine!

Escape Room

If you have been hanging around HarborWalk Village doing a little shopping or checking out some of their fun activities, you have to check out the Gulf Coast Escape Room, step inside a  Real-life room where you play an escape game that is a type of physical adventure. This game is where people are literally locked in a room with other participants (usually friends and family that come with you) and have to use elements that are only inside of the room (cellular devices are left outside) to solve a series of puzzles, find clues, and escape the room within 60 minutes.
